Questions, answered straight.
Everything 16 prospective clients ask before working with us — pricing, timelines, ownership, hosting, support, and how to cancel. Every answer is the same one we put in our Statement of Work.
Pricing & payment
How much does a website cost? +
Websites are fixed-price, not hourly: single-page sites start at $900, multi-page business sites at $2,500, and online stores at $3,000 — typically 30–60% below agency quotes. Web apps start at $4,500, native iOS/Android apps and AI-editable sites at $5,000, and fully custom builds at $6,000. You see the exact price (and any sales tax) before you pay, with no hourly surprises. Full breakdown at /pricing.
How are you so much cheaper than agencies? +
Lean overhead. Agencies have account managers, project managers, sales teams, and offices — all billable to you. Lova is a tight team doing the work directly. Same code quality, fewer middlemen. The trade-off is we cap at a small number of active projects, so we won't take everyone.
Do you charge sales tax? +
Yes, where it applies — Stripe Tax computes sales tax automatically at checkout based on your billing address and Lova's registered jurisdictions. Texas customers pay TX sales tax on templated builds (T1, T2, T3, T4) and on maintenance plans, per Texas Comptroller rules. Custom software development (T5 Mobile App, native mobile builds, custom builds) is exempt when invoiced as custom programming. Out-of-state customers pay no Texas sales tax. The SOW shows the pre-tax headline price; Stripe Checkout shows the final tax line and total before you pay.
Can I see a contract before paying? +
Always. After you submit the intake form for any productized tier (T1–T5), we'll send you straight to a Statement of Work to review — scope, timeline, payment schedule, acceptance criteria, the whole thing in plain English. You sign by typing your full legal name (legally binding under the ESIGN Act and Texas UETA), then you're sent to Stripe to pay the deposit. Custom builds get a full Master Services Agreement reviewed by email instead. Either way: no first dollar moves until you've read and agreed to the terms.
Timeline & process
How long does it take to build a website? +
Single-page sites go live in 7 business days or less; multi-page business sites in about 10 business days and online stores in about 14. You review the work on a private staging URL before launch, and every timeline is committed in writing in your Statement of Work. Web apps and native mobile apps run a few weeks depending on scope.
What's the difference between productized tiers and custom builds? +
Productized tiers are fixed-price packages with set deliverables — you can order them online without a discovery call. Custom builds are scoped on a 30-minute call and quoted with milestone payments. Most clients fit a productized tier; if you have unusual needs (multi-tenant, complex integrations, real-time features), we go custom.
Build & ownership
Are these template sites or custom-coded? +
Every Lova site is custom-coded in Astro or Next.js — not a drag-and-drop template — so you get fast load times, clean SEO, and a design that's yours, at fixed, template-like prices. The productized tiers keep the price predictable; the build underneath is bespoke.
Should I build a web app or a native mobile app? +
Choose a mobile-first web app ($4,500) if you want one product that runs in any browser and installs as a PWA — the fastest, lowest-cost option. Choose a native iOS/Android app (from $5,000) if you need the App Store and Play Store, push notifications, or device hardware. We build both and will recommend the right fit on a quick call.
Do I own my website and its code? +
Yes — you own your site and its full source code, with no vendor lock-in. If you ever leave, we hand over the complete repository, deploy instructions, and environment variables plus a 30-minute walkthrough, so you can self-host on Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare, or anywhere else and keep running.
What if I need changes after launch? +
Every project includes two free revision rounds within 60 days of delivery — text edits, image swaps, color tweaks, or sections that use existing components. After that (or for new features at any time), edits are billed at our post-delivery rate: $75 for quick changes, $200 for standard updates (1–2 hours of work), or a fixed quote for new features. Bugs from the original delivery are always fixed at no charge. Or skip the per-edit billing and put your site on a Maintenance plan — your monthly hours apply to revision requests automatically.
Technology & hosting
What technologies do you use? +
Astro for marketing sites. Next.js for web apps. Supabase for databases and auth. Tailwind CSS throughout. Stripe for payments. Cloudflare for DNS. All modern, all maintained, all unlikely to need a ground-up rebuild in 2–3 years.
Maintenance & support
Do I have to use your maintenance plan? +
For Lova-hosted sites, yes — a care plan is required, starting at $39/mo (hosting, SSL, daily backups, and uptime monitoring). If you'd rather host the site yourself, we deliver it as a complete codebase you can deploy anywhere and you skip the plan. Either way, bugs from our original delivery are fixed free for life.
What if my site goes down at 2am? +
Sentinel — our monitoring system — notices in under 30 seconds. For Active and Managed clients, automated failover triggers immediately. Managed clients also get SMS escalation to Ray's phone for critical incidents. Most issues are resolved before clients even notice.
Cancellation & eligibility
Can I cancel my maintenance plan anytime? +
Yes. Cancel anytime, no notice period required — your account reflects the change within 3 business days. No refunds for partial months already paid. Annual prepay plans auto-renew with a 30-day reminder email; cancel before renewal for a clean term-end stop, or mid-term for a pro-rata refund of unused months (less a $50 processing fee). Full policy at /refund-policy.
What happens after I cancel? +
You own your code. We hand over the full repository, deploy instructions, environment variables, and a 30-minute walkthrough call. You can self-host on Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare Pages, or anywhere else — your site keeps running. We just step back from monitoring, patches, and support. You can always re-engage on a per-edit basis at our post-delivery rate.
Do you only work with US clients? +
Yes — Lova is a Texas LLC serving US-based businesses. This keeps our legal, tax, and timezone overhead low so we can pass those savings to you. If you're outside the US, we recommend a regional studio that understands your tax and privacy framework.
